Flavoured Buttermilk - 3 Variants
Buttermilk or the quintessential Lassi makes for a perfect accompaniment to meals in Punjabi households. In this sweltering heat, this drink aids your digestion and hence, I made 3 interesting variants to tickle your palate!
PUDINA LASSI
INGREDIENTS -
2 cups Greek yogurt or homemade Dahi
1 cup fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
1 tsp black salt
Ice cubes
PROCESS -
1. Take the bowl of a blender and add the Greek yogurt, fresh mint leaves, black salt in it .
2. Blend it until it gets a smooth consistency.
3. Throw in the ice cubes and give it a blend again until the lassi becomes little frothy.
4. Garnish with mint leaves, a pinch of black salt and serve chilled.
ROSE LASSI
INGREDIENTS -
2 cups Greek yogurt or homemade Dahi
2 tbsp Roohafza Syrup or Rose Syrup
3 tbsp Honey
3/4 cup chilled water
Ice cubes
1 tsp dried rose petals
PROCESS -
1. Take the bowl of a blender and add the Greek yogurt, Roohafza syrup, chilled water and honey in it .
2. Blend it until it gets a smooth consistency.
3. Throw in the ice cubes and give it a blend again until the lassi becomes little frothy.
4. Garnish with dried rose petals and serve chilled.
KESAR ELAICHI LASSI
INGREDIENTS -
2 cups Greek yogurt or homemade Dahi
7-8 saffron strands
2 tsp Cardamom powder
3 tbsp honey
3/4 cup chilled water
Ice cubes
1 tbsp chopped Pistachios
PROCESS -
1. Take the bowl of a blender and add the Greek yogurt, cardamon powder, honey and saffron strands in it .
2. Blend it until it gets a smooth consistency.
3. Throw in the ice cubes and give it a blend again until the lassi becomes little frothy.
4. Garnish with chopped Pistachios and serve chilled.
