Christmas Brunch at Diva Restaurants, Sangam Courtyard

Chef Ritu Dalmia is a name that speaks of sheer brilliance. A fan of her curated menu at  Depot 29 , I couldn’t wait to enjoy the festive season feasting a specially curated menu by the respected chef herself.

Sangam Courtyard houses some of the finest and my favorite restaurants of the city. Diva Restaurants nestled in this calm and upcoming food hub, stands firmly to its sturdy reputation and lives upto my expectations of food that lingers on your taste buds for long.

Christmas Brunch began on a tasteful note with Millet Salad. It was a great appetizer to begin the festive feasting. Paired with the traditional Mulled Wine that was warmed to perfection, the choice of ingredients in the dish and the lemon dressing in the dropper were a visual delight!

Tried two variants of Pizzas straight out of oven piping hot! Vegetarian Hand Tossed Pizza was my favorite – The aroma of fresh Basil. baby Tomatoes and gooey Cheese was indeed very scrumptious. The dish was bursting with both colors and delicious flavors. Certainly coming back again here for this.

Chicken Breast with Zucchini, Black Pepper Sauce and Rosemary Potatoes was a masterpiece.  Intelligent pairing of food along with an exemplary plating.. sounds like a true Ritu Dalmia recipe of success. There is nothing flawed in some dishes, and here this one above is a clear example of that.

Bikaneri Roti was soft, flaky and stuffed with filling of green peas. This renowned Marwadi offering from the Rajasthani Cuisine was paired with a Papaya Curry. A quite unusual and flavorful twist sure to be loved by every vegetarian definitely.

Cinnamon Custard coupled with a Christmas Cake filled with Cashew Nuts and Cardamon is a match made in heaven. This dessert was the highlight of the meal and even with very appetite, I couldn’t resist to binge on the entire serving.

Ended the meal brimming with joy of feasting on such appetizing food, and healthy conversations about various Indian cuisines and cultures. Chef Ritu Dalmia‘s warm and humble nature reflects in the food she cooks, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate the season of jolly!

Enjoy this festive feasting only at Diva Restaurants, Sangam Courtyard on 24th and 25th December, 2015.

KFC launches no crust, all-chicken KFC Chizza

KFC’s signature hot and crispy chicken has been our favorite for almost a decade. After making their presence felt in India and weaving numerous success stories, this leading restaurant chain decided to to surprise its loyalists with a new offering this new year.

KFC’s juicy and crispy fillet is turned into a ‘Chizza’ with the addition of crispy toppings, gooey molten cheese, signature pizza sauce. All the ingredients ideally used in Pizza but with NO CRUST and only 100% REAL CHICKEN as the base. With toppings of Oregano and Chilli Flakes, you can certainly count on Chizza to tantalize your taste buds! A quick tip to enjoy it piping hot, before both the Chicken and Cheese get soggy.

The product was launched with much fanfare by KFC Chief Food Innovation Officer, Praneet Singh at a launch party held at a KFC store in Connaught Place in New Delhi on December 18. The theme of the party was #WhyNot, the very origin of the thought that led to the genesis of the Chizza (a pizza without any base, #WhyNot?).

India’s first-ever vocal orchestra Voctronica (a band without any musical instruments…#WhyNot) also pumped up the tempo at the event and performed a unique Chizza anthem based on the #WhyNot theme.

KFC Chizza is a limited period offering, available across all KFC stores in India with a nominal pricing of INR 169.  Do share your experience with me!

Leonardo Olive Oil launches a new variant at the New Delhi Palate Fest 2015

Leonardo Olive Oil launched its new variant, Olive Oil – Extra Light, at the New Delhi Palate Fest 2015, Nehru Park on November 28th, 2015. To celebrate the launch and demonstrate the use of Olive Oil-Extra Light in day to day cooking, Leonardo Olive Oil hosted a Masterclass in association with Chef Kishi Arora. The event witnessed food enthusiasts who were keen to learn cooking using Leonardo Olive Oil – Extra Light.

Chef Kishi Arora curated tea treat recipes such as Achari Paneer with Tadka Veggies, Buckwheat Sago Tikki with Green Chutney  and a 2 minute Olive Oil Chocolate Cake in a mug! Despite using only 1/3rd of olive oil as compared to other regular cooking oil(s) viz. sunflower, soybean, rice bran etc., the texture and taste were appreciated by the visitors. Leonardo Olive Oil uses 1/3rd the other refined oils because of its high MUFA content. MUFA forms a thin crust over the food item cooked in olive oil and inhibits oil penetration, making it light, tastyand healthy.

Leonardo Olive Oil – Extra Light is best suited for day-to-day Indian cooking as it is naturally refined oil mixed with extra virgin olive oil that enhances its health benefits. It has high MUFA content (75%), zero cholesterol, trans-fat free This oil can be used for stir-frying, sautéing and shallow frying; therefore one can use it to cook their favorite day-to-day Indian dishes such as Paranthas, Palak Paneer, Mixed Vegetables etc.

Chef Kishi Arora said “It was a great experience to host a live cooking class at the New Delhi Palate Fest 2015. I am happy to be a part of this event to create awareness about the multiple uses of Olive Oil in Indian cooking and its health benefits. It was interesting to experiment with three different cooking techniques using olive oil to create dishes ranging from a shallow fried tikki to stir fried vegetables, and even a dessert!”

Neelima Burra, CMO, Cargill Foods India Ltd said “Palate Fest enables us to connect with consumers directly and demonstrate the versatile usage of olive oil. With 1/3rd the oil usage (as compared to other refined oils) and a host of other health benefits, Leonardo olive oil makes the dishes healthy so that consumers can enjoy their cuisine without thinking about the oil. We have a range of olive oils to suit Indian taste palate and are happy to add a new variant – Leonardo Olive Oil Extra Light, which further strengthens our portfolio and is perfect for day-to-day cooking in Indian kitchens.”

Leonardo olive Oil-Extra Light is natural refined oil infused with extra virgin olive oil and is perfect for day-to-day cooking.  It is available in pack sizes of 1 Ltr. & 2 Ltr.

The Grub Fest 2015

The season of food festivals in Delhi kickstarted with The Grub Fest from 23rd October to 25th October. Three days devoted to celebration of food, yes absolute bliss for the foodies of our city! Gurgaon was buzzing with crowd, which was not very likely on a day of holiday. Contrary to its first stint, The Grub Fest came to our capital for a second innings and left us bewildered and how!

Almost 50 restaurants and cafes came on one ground with the best of their offerings and servings, waiting to enchant the customer who passes by their stall. While some complained of parking issues, a majority walked out with a smile evident of a sinful gastronomical adventure.

For all those who missed, enjoy these photos and videos that I took from my latest gadget, Google Nexus 5X from this 3 day extravaganza. Delhi, you never fail to impress me. Love such innovative culinary experiences and adventures!

Here are my 5 key takeaways from The Grub Fest 2.0! Read on 🙂

Emerging of the chefs: The chefs are slowly and gradually coming to the forefront. They are starting to be known by their signature dishes, the brands they have built and they are not shying away from any attention. Loved the masterclasses by the chefs giving them the much deserved attention.

Amalgamation of food, music and dance: Music , food, and our favorite theater artists, what happens when you bring all three at one common platform? The result is sheer brilliance. Apart from food, the organizers had enough reasons to keep the crowd hooked. Eminent names like Vir Das, Hari Sukhmani and Nikhil Chinnapa were enough reasons for Delhiites to skip their lazy Sunday plans and hop onto this festival.

Willingness to experiment: Audience is no longer confined to the restaurants or the dishes in their favorite list. Blame it either on exposure of digital media or a change in thinking, but we do notice a considerable taste of experiment in the people of Delhi be it fusion of street food or new cuisines. P.S we are not complaining!

People are not shying away from cocktails, especially women: It’s not longer a taboo to drink a whiskey or savor the alcohol you have always love but a little reluctant to try it in public. We saw bartenders acing some brilliant techniques and wooing away the ladies with cocktails, that lost count. From Sangria Chuski to Aam Panna Cocktail, there were enough varieties to keep us glued to the bar!

This is the start, something BIG is coming: With The Grub Fest kicking the countdown of the festivals, get ready to bid goodbye to your diet plans as our city is all set to witness 5 more festivals in the next 2 months. From Delhi Cocktail Week, to Palate Fest, or to the Street Food Festival, I am going to bring you my picks of the best from these fests.  Until then, keep eating and exploring!

Leaping Caravan’s Shirazine Menu

Does food take you back to a memory?

Well, at rarest of rare occasions like these, when eminent food connoisseurs embark on a journey to spill the beans of some of the most underrated and delicious recipes from their bag full of traditions. Say hello to Parul Pratap Shirazi of Chef at Large fame, the magician as I must say, for giving us something beyond food, an experience, a lingering taste, a long lost memory of the flavours I, and perhaps a lot of you grew up with.

She ties up with Leaping Caravan, Delhi NCR’s renowned food-tech home delivery service that brings the flavours of the Indian Dhaba right at our doorstep. The uncompromising attitude with the hygiene, the generous quantity, such nice packaging are few parameters that are very tough to be not pleased with, the moment you receive the order. Followed by the aroma of the food cooked in authentic spices, that just can’t fail to leave you smitten.

The menu is a delight for both vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. Keeping it simple, classy and tad original, just like Parul herself, you just can’t go wrong with any dish you lay your hands on!

RawalPindi Meat Curry tops the list of my favorites. The dish that forced me to quit the fork and etiquette, and totally justified a guilt free indulgence. Soft lamb, very well cooked Curry and the flavour that reminds me of nothing except my grandmom! The preparation is done in a slow cooking pot, which gives ample time for the spices to blend in the food and gives such rich flavour to the dish.

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta becomes an instant hit with the aroma of the ingredients. The shredded chicken, chopped onions and the flavour is going to stay with you for long. These dishes don’t come by often, don’t miss on this one!

Biryani lovers like me could kill for such delicious Mutton Biryani. So well cooked, and perfectly marinated meat just shows how efficient the cook making the dish is. Worth a double serving, without a doubt.

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi is the perfect dish for the brewing winter season. If you are a fan of Ghobi Parathas drowned with generous quantity of white butter, then this dish is going to give you a similar feeling of authentic Dhaba food. Won my dad’s heart, and left the family gleaming with joy!

Ending the meal with Ghee Shakkar Roti that transported me straight to the time when enjoying a Chappati dipped with Ghee and stuffed with Shakkar, cooked with nothing but love by your Granny meant bliss. How often do you see such heroic attempts in the kitchen?

Skip a party, order in this exclusive meal and savour it with your family. You might just end up having the best food and a nostalgic conversation, just like I did.

Dessert Pizzas at Courtyard by Marriott, Gurgaon

Courtyard by Marriott, Gurgaon gives us a very palatable and delectable reason to celebrate our sweet tooth. At the onset of monsoon, when we are just recovering from the hangover of celebrating the king of fruits – Mango in a variety of desserts, Chef Amit Dash, Executive Chef Courtyard by Marriott, Gurgaon brings to table his flavorsome tryst with food innovation.

While the culinary circuit is abuzz with fusion foods and complex food innovations like molecular gastronomy, I rather loved the simplicity of the combination of foods chosen by Chef Amit Dash, which leave you stunned and smitten with an effortless charm.

Mango Basil Pizza

Mango Basil Pizza

His idea of making his daughter gleam with joy after serving a similar dessert on her birthday led to the inception of the idea of dessert pizzas. His 3 month long experimental journey resulted in absolutely lip smacking 8 inches wide and delightful variety of pizzas ranging from a Mango Basil Pizza, Angoori Rasmalai Pizza to Sweet Chilli Pizza and Blueberry White Chocolate Ganache Pizza.

Nizami Nazakat Pizza
